Terms of use
The agreement between you and us when you use ProtectMyMail,
its plugins and apps, and the anuumail.com gateway.
Version of 9 October 2026 (draft).
Before this is published: the legal name, address and chamber of commerce
number must be filled in, the prices and trial must match what the web app charges, and the
whole text should be read by a lawyer. Consumer law (Dutch Civil Code book 6 and 7, the EU
consumer rights rules) takes precedence over anything here that says otherwise.
1. Who we are
ProtectMyMail is offered by [legal name], [postal address], [chamber of commerce number], the
Netherlands ("we"). Contact: support@anuumail.com.
2. What the service is
ProtectMyMail signs and encrypts e-mail on your own device, publishes records that let
others check your messages, and helps the people you write to read them. It works with the
mailbox you already have; we are not your mail provider. During the beta the service may
change, be interrupted or lose data that has not been published yet. We say so on this site
when that happens.
3. Your keys are yours
- Your keys are made on your device from a recovery phrase. We never have it. If you lose
it and your organisation keeps no recovery key, nobody can restore your account or
decrypt what was sent to you — not even us.
- You keep your recovery phrase and your password safe. What is signed with your keys
counts as signed by you until you replace the key or revoke the device that signed it.
- Tell us at once at support@anuumail.com if you think someone else has your phrase, and
replace your key in the plugin or the app.
4. What is published
Using the service publishes records — your address, your keys, and a record for each
protected message — as the privacy statement describes. They are
signed and copied between nodes, and cannot be recalled. By protecting a message you ask us to
publish its record.
5. Fair use
You may not use the service to send spam or unsolicited bulk mail, to impersonate someone,
to break the law, or to attack, overload or probe the network, the gateway or other users. The
gateway limits how much one sender may send. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules,
and will tell you why unless the law forbids it.
6. Plans, trial and payment
- [Price: up to 3 mailboxes for US $5.00 per month; extra mailboxes US $1.50 each per month
— to be confirmed.] Prices include VAT for consumers in the EU.
- A new account gets a free trial of [n] days. Without an active plan after it, the plugin
stops protecting outgoing mail; reading and checking incoming mail keeps working.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. A subscription renews each month until you cancel it,
which you can do at any time, effective at the end of the paid month.
- As a consumer in the EU you may withdraw within 14 days of buying a plan. If you ask the
service to start during those days, you pay for the days used.
- If you were referred, the person who referred you may receive a reward; they learn that
you signed up, not what you send.
7. Organisations
An organisation that confirms its domain can vouch for its people's mailboxes and, if it
chooses, keep a recovery key that opens its people's accounts. An organisation that uses this
does so under the data processing agreement, and is responsible for
telling its people. Its people are told in the plugin and the apps.
8. Liability
We build the service carefully and describe its limits honestly, but cannot promise that it
is never unavailable or that every message is checked. Our liability is limited to direct
damage, up to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the damage — except where the
damage results from our intent or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limit.
We are not liable for the loss of a recovery phrase that we never had.
9. Ending
You may stop at any time: cancel your plan and use "Sign out" to remove everything from your
devices. We may end the service with three months' notice, or at once for a serious breach of
section 5. What was published stays published.
10. Changes and law
We announce changes to these terms on this site at least 30 days before they take effect;
if you do not agree, you may cancel before then. Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the
competent court in [city], unless consumer law gives you the right to go to your own court.
